Workflow presents a solo exhibition by Delali Cofie
Frequently creating work between my native city Accra and my current city Toronto, my work tells a tale of two cities, loosely linked by a diasporic thread. I use photography to explore ideas of family, identity, individual experiences, and community, either through documentation or abstract approaches to photography. I primarily use analogue cameras to create my images, which consider the medium’s colonial history and give it new meaning through the agency to craft and capture our own stories. The aim of my work is to present a duality between the contemporary perspective of African Lineage and the mundane documentation of black lives.
Delali Cofie is a Ghanaian-Nigerian photographer currently living in Toronto, Canada. Through storytelling he engages in multiple genres of photography, such as fashion, documentary and fine art, often blurring the lines between them. His personal work seeks to highlight beauty whilst exploring social-political issues, taking inspiration from the human experience, both of his and those around him. His work has been exhibited in galleries across Ontario, namely Gallery 44(2021) and Gallery 101(2022). In May of 2022, Delali had his first solo exhibition, A Place of Ours, included in the CONTACT Photography festival in Toronto.
